Yesterday evening we played baseball in our front yard - Jacob was batting, Tod pitching, I played outfield, and Brady drew the chalk lines on the street.
We had 3 baseballs and one tennis ball. Tod would pitch the 3 baseballs first then the tennis ball. Jacob could really launch the tennis ball! One baseball was eaten by our bushes and never found. Another went down the sewer drain. As the ball count dwindled so did Jacob's attention.
At one point Jacob said, "Hey Dad! Look at this!"
Tod - "There are no cartwheels in baseball!!!"
Jacob - "What about handstands?"
Tod - "I give up..."
As official outfielder I thought cartwheels and handstands would really liven up the baseball game!!
We are now in a rain delay....

I am laughing out loud, seriously!
(forget it dad) ;-)
we had a baseball themed birthday party at a batting cage to go to on saturday. all 30 kids got a chance to hit a wiffle ball with a big plastic bat. When Aidan approached the plate (the last kid to bat) he wispered to the woman catching that worked there, "I don't really know what I am doing". When the fourth pitch bounced off his arm as he swung, everyone screamed RUN, RUN. Even after watching 29 kids before him do it, he had no idea what they were talking about. He gently placed the bat on the ground and then ran straight toward the pitcher. He loves karate and has been doing really well with soccer, but on the way home we decided we need to get a new bat and work on this sport a little bit more. I might have to tell him he gets to wear a helmet in order for him to show any interest. Let's all hope that Everett shows more promise.
at least he wasn't picking flowers like i used to do!
