We finally closed on our house today. It is such a huge relief to sign those papers! Tod and I have been so stressed over the sale of our house. Finally we can breathe easy.
I believe this is the longest I have ever lived in one house. I have such a wide range of memories of our old house. Good and bad. When we left the attorneys office today I felt a sense of relief but also a bit of sadness. Don't get me wrong, I love our new house and our new location. I am just being a bit sentimental.
I remember buying the house brand new and filling it little by little with hand-me-down furniture.
I remember painting EVERY wall in the house and re-painting all of my poor paint selections.
I remember sitting in the living room watching the World Trade Center fall and hoping that Tod's friend, Brian Williams, will make it out alive. He didn't.
I remember decorating the nursery and preparing for Jacob and Brady's arrival.
I remember panicking when my Mother went home after helping me after the boys came home for the first time.
I remember watching Tod's father and brothers help us build a screen porch/deck/and sandbox.
I have lots of memories in that house.
Now it is time to make some new ones.

If we ever move I will have a hard time leaving this house, it's where I had my babies. It's kind of funny to be so sentimental about a house, huh? But you're going to fill your new house with all sorts of fun new memories. And this will be the home your boys will remember. :)

we were in our old (and first) house for almost 5 years and had so many memories. we finished the basement ourselves and built the deck ourselves too. molly was born there. the day we left the house for the last time and drove away to charlotte, i cried for a good part of the trip. even drew teared up as we locked the door for the last time. it's hard. what makes it easier is your great new place!

Congratulations!!!! I still get teary-eyed when we drive past our old house in Virginia. You can still drive past it for years and years and show it to your boys (we drive past ours every time we go back to VA) :)
I'm so glad that you won't have that stress in your life anymore but can appreciate the mixed emotions.

When you walk away from your old home for the last time, the memories come flooding back, both happy and sad. It's like the feelings you get when looking through an old photo album or watching home videos. I understand (((Kat))).
Moving along keeps life interesting though and I know how happy you all are............
